We are a mobile service that provides pop-up social art classes to participants with limited painting experience. We run regular public classes in pubs and hotels, and also provide private classes and corporate events in private homes and workplaces.

Each class focuses on a designated painting and we provide participants with step-by-step instructions on how to achieve that painting. The classes are designed to be fun and social and we always encourage creativity and freedom with our classes.

WHAT WE NEED

Painting Instructors

Our painting instructors provide step-by-step instructions on how to achieve a designated painting from our gallery using acrylic paint.

Instructors require confidence to both direct a class of adults in the painting process and produce a live painting in front of the group. Each class you will produce a 16 x 20 inch display painting on an easel at the front of the class and demonstrate the processes used, giving detailed instructions on sketching, colour-mixing, brush technique, etc.

This position requires strong painting skills, the ability to break the painting process down into manageable steps, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and a great sense of humour.

Assistants

Assistants support in the management of the class, by providing participants with extra materials as required, cleaning up spills, and providing advice and encouragement.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our instructors and assistants are contractors and these positions are best suited to uni students or freelance artists who have other sources of income. You will require your own ABN or be willing to get one to receive payment.

Our calendar varies week by week and successful applicants can expect an average of two to three shifts per month, with the potential for more regular shifts in the future.

The majority of our public classes run Monday to Thursday from 6:30pm - 9pm as well as Sunday afternoons from 2 - 5pm. Most shifts for instructors and assistants are 6pm - 10pm for weeknight classes and 1:30pm - 5:30pm on weekend classes, though these hours can vary depending on events. Private bookings are usually weekends, but can be anytime.


WHAT WE’rE LOOKING FOR

  • Candidates over the age of 18

  • Minimum 5 years painting experience

  • Tertiary qualifications (or working towards) in Fine Art and / or Education

  • Confidence speaking in front of a large (and sometimes rowdy) audience

  • Enthusiasm toward the job and about the Arts industry
